There's an exhibit at the Museum of Modern Art that you would enjoy on kitchen design. There's a whole section on the business that grew up in the war years about analyzing efficienties in the kitchen, in order to design the perfect space. It's pretty facsinating, and now I think about how it should only take me 1.5 minutes to empty the trash!
