The bacon trend may be waning, but that doesn’t inhibit Vosges Chocolate from charging over $8 for a 3 ounce bar of Chocolate-Bacon.
And really, how hard could it be to make? I decided to find out and learned, not very difficult at all.
Homemade Bacon-Chocolate Bars
3 slices (or more) bacon, preferably applewood smoked
6 ounces 62% chocolate
- Cook bacon until crisp and then drain really, really well. Coarsely chop.
- While bacon is cooking, melt chocolate over a double boiler. Stir with a rubber spatula. When about 80% of the chocolate is melted, remove the chocolate from the heat and keep stirring until the remaining chocolate melts.
3. Fold the bacon into the chocolate and continue stirring for a minute or two more. Pour the chocolate into molds and let set.

While the trend may be waning, I'm not sure my craving ever will! Just the pictures here are making me nutty!

Oh my nephew is going to love this. He'll visit in August, and we will make this for sure (he's an 8-year-old foodie!)!
